Are Refurbished iPhones Waterproof? What Water Resistance Really Means

Do not buy a refurbished iPhone on the assumption that it is waterproof. Some iPhones were sold with laboratory-tested water-resistance ratings, but that does not tell you the present condition of an individual previously owned device.

If the phone becomes wet

Stop cable charging and follow Apple's drying instructions. Apple advises against external heat and inserting objects into the connector. Do not turn a drying attempt into an improvised repair; follow the guidance for the exact warning shown on your device.

If a problem remains, document what happened and contact the seller or an appropriate support provider. Do not assume a warranty includes accidental liquid damage merely because the product includes a warranty.
