Battery life matters when choosing refurbished technology. This guide explains how battery health is reported, what it does and does not tell you, and what to check before buying.

What does battery health mean?

Rechargeable batteries gradually lose capacity as they age and go through charging cycles. A battery health or maximum-capacity percentage, where available, is an estimate of capacity compared with when the battery was new. It is not a direct prediction of how many hours the device will last on a single charge.

Battery life also depends on screen brightness, apps, signal strength, temperature, settings and the way you use the device.

Battery condition and cosmetic grade are different

Labels such as Pristine, Very Good, Good and Acceptable describe cosmetic condition. They do not, by themselves, promise a particular battery-health percentage, a newly installed battery or a fixed number of usage hours.

Battery specifications and any minimum-health commitment apply only where expressly stated in the individual product listing. If a listing does not state a percentage, do not assume a particular figure.

How to check battery health on an iPhone

On supported iPhone models, open Settings → Battery, then look for Battery Health or Battery Health & Charging. The labels and information available depend on the model and iOS version.

Other products, including iPads, Android phones and laptops, may show different battery information or require different settings. Battery-health percentages are not measured or reported in exactly the same way on every device.

For model-specific guidance, see Apple’s explanation of iPhone battery health and performance.

Before placing your order

  • Read the exact product description, including condition and any stated battery information.
  • Check whether a battery percentage, a replacement battery or a particular accessory is expressly included.
  • If a specific battery-health level matters to you and it is not listed, contact us before ordering so we can clarify the information available for that item.
  • Remember that rechargeable batteries wear over time; a cosmetic grade is not a battery-health guarantee.

If you experience a battery problem

Contact Tech Market support with your order number and a description of the issue. We will review it under the applicable 1-year warranty and your statutory consumer rights. Please also review our returns information.

This is general buying guidance. Product-specific battery details, where supplied, take precedence. Updated 2 November 2026.
