New Apple iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr and Apple Watch. Everything Apple announced during its ‘Gather round’

For tech lovers, the most anticipated event of the year has just happened. Yes, we are talking about Apple’s launch event. The event took place at Steve Jobs Theatre located in Apple’s HQ in California. During the event, Apple announced three new iPhones.

– iPhone XS

– iPhone XS Max

– iPhone XR

This trio of iPhones are almost lookalikes of iPhone X, the model which Apple announced last year. Apple Watch Series 4 was also announced during the Apple event day.

Read on as we recap everything Apple announced.

iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max

Apple’s executive Phil Schiller announced two new iPhones: the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max.

Both of these models are said to have improvements and upgrades. They now have better water resistance feature. Plus the glass design has also been updated.

iPhone XR

Before the main event, many speculations and rumours were wandering around that Apple would release one cheaper iPhone with colour variations. Guess what? Apple announced its iPhone XR and made the rumours, true.

iPhone XR is a colourful and affordable iPhone model amongst the two. It will come in 6 different colours: white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and red.

Design & Display

All the three new iPhones have almost the same design as the current iPhone X. You will get bezel less screen with a notch at the top. Unlike few of the Android phones, the notch on the iPhones serves an important thing.

The notch on the iPhone hides different sensors including an IR camera, a flood illuminator, front speaker, microphone and more.

iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch screen with 1792 x 828 resolution. It has an LCD display. Apple calls it the best LCD display ever made. This iPhone model lacks 3D Touch. The single lens camera on the rear lets you click portrait images. It has an A12 Bionic chip and Face ID support. The iPhone XR has wireless charging support as well. It will be available from 19th October 2018.

The iPhone XS Max is believed to be Apple’s largest display iPhone yet, with a 6.5-inch screen. The iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch screen. Both the iPhones share a Super Retina OLED display having durable glass feature.

For water resistance standards, the iPhone XR has IP 67 rating and other two have IP 68. Face ID supports all the three new iPhones.

Last but not the least, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max support dual-SIM technology. Shipping for both the iPhones will start from September 21.

Internal Specs and Storage

Apple also introduced it’s first-ever A12 Bionic chip having a 6-core processor, a quad-core GPU and an updated octa-core neural engine. A12 Bionic chip processor is said to be 15% faster than A11 Bionic chip processor. During the event, Apple didn’t mention the RAM capacity for its new iPhones. But the rumours suggest that iPhone XR will have 3GB RAM while the other two will have 4GB of RAM in them.

iPhone XR will come in three storage variants: 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The expensive iPhone XS and XS Max will be available in 64, 256 and 512 GB options. All the three iPhones come with iOS 12.

Cameras

The camera is one of the best features in iPhone. The two new iPhones, XS and XS Max have dual camera setup with a 12MP wide-angle f/1.8 sensor paired with a 12MP Telephoto f/2.4 lens. The cameras have the Optical Image Stabilization. You also get stereo sound recording feature for videos. One more important feature of the cameras is that you can adjust Depth of Field of the images manually after clicking them.

The iPhone XR has a 12 Megapixel single lens camera, with f/1.8 aperture and Focus Pixels. It will come with a True Tone flash feature.

Battery and Price

As far as the battery capacity is concerned, Apple didn’t shed light on this aspect. However, the company’s officials said that the XS battery will last 30 minutes more than the current iPhone X while the XS Max lasts 1.5 hours more.

Apple compared the new XR iPhone with its 8 Plus model and said that iPhone XR lasts 1.5 hours more.

And for the Price, here is what we will pay for these new iPhones.

iPhone XR:£749

Apple Watch Series 4

Apple has also unveiled another version of its Watch series. It is the fourth generation of Apple Watch. It has a bigger screen and thinner body. “Everything about it has been redesigned and re-engineered,” Apple said.

The new Apple Watch offers edge-to-edge display. It boasts larger screens and cases. It has a 64-bit dual-core S4 processor. This processor is two times faster than the S3 processor. It boasts a strong battery life.

Apple has taken one step further in healthcare and offers a feature in its Watch Series 4 that will allow the user to take real-time ECG. It’s a pretty helpful feature, especially for heart patients.

President of The American Heart Association, Dr, Ivor Benjamin made a brief appearance at the Apple’s grand event and said “”In my experience, people often report symptoms that are absent during their medical visits.”

“The ability to access health data from an on-demand electrocardiogram or ECG is game-changing, especially when evaluating atrial fibrillation — an irregular and often rapid heart rate that can increase a person’s risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.”

The watch has also another helpful feature called ‘Fall Detection’.
